Why Write eBooks? Become an Expert!

Why write eBooks? There are countless reasons to write and self publish an eBook. There are some obvious reasons, and then some not so obvious.

Why Write

Writing is an art form that will be profitable to just about any business, and this isn’t just the writer profiting. Ever get junk mail? Notice that the writing usually tries to pull you in with a powerful offer or a unique picture. There is a copywriter behind that, and he’s making money not only for himself but namely for the business he (or she) is writing for. Writing forms of the core of all we see and hear. It’s essential in the online business market to stand out with good writing. EBooks are the solution, and getting a ghost writer for an eBook to feature on your site often turns quick profits … and turns you into an expert.

Expert!

By writing an eBook, you immediately become an expert in the field. For instance, I wrote an eBook some time ago on creative writing, and therefore became an expert on the field. It helps your image, makes buyers trust you more, and of course makes you more knowledgeable. Whether you write the eBook or not, you will gain a working knowledge of online media that before you didn’t have. For now, let’s say you’re going to write the eBook or at least do some editing.

You’re informing with an eBook, selling with a product page. Two different strategies that work in vastly different ways. However, both can be profitable.

Online Profits

Becoming an expert immediately turns into online profit. Write an eBook on marketing, and you’re a direct mail marketer, you can not only note this on resumes but offer services as a writer or editor for certain media venues, especially online venues. You could ghostwrite articles or pen press releases, for one. But, you write your own eBook and you will get true profit.
Here is the big story. Why are so many businesses opting for eBooks? Shorter, more to the point and useful, and never sell out. Sound good? Welcome to the vast world of online media, where you can write an eBook of 50 pages and make more money than the traditional book writer. It doesn’t happen every time, but it can and does happen.

How do you write an ebook? From page 1 to 50

You write an eBook almost always with profit in mind. For one, traditional eBooks on specific niche markets often sell for the price of a hardcover, 500 page book, and are much easier to write. It doesn’t always mean they will sell that well.

Outlines

It is very wise to create some kind of outline and structure for your eBook. If you are selling business eBooks, it’s mandatory. You can’t just sit down one day and start writing short essays. That works for some, but in the business field you need to break down exactly what you are going to say. If you want it to be profitable, follow the rules of core structure.

Structure

You can write an eBook in a month if you want! Some writers do it even faster, writing 10-20 page reports in days and selling them for small prices. The secret is experience, and how you apply it to the writing. Novels need themes, eBooks need proof. In the beginning the structure of your book should have the reader in mind. How to make money online … how to resell cars … how to save money on travel vacations. Ask a question a reader has, and then answer it. Follow the rules of structure and you can create as many profitable eBooks as you want.

EBooks generally have a HOW TO emphasis, which makes it easy to bring experience to the book, and also thinking up questions readers may have. “Why is the stock market falling?” And so on.

Length?

Length depends on you, but more importantly on the buyer. Some readers have no time for tons of personal examples or examples from others with experience. They want a simple equation to building profits, for example, or starting a new business career. Typically, eBooks rarely push 50 pages. Some go as high as 100, while others go below 10.

Format?

This too depends on certain factors. One safe way many epublishers sell eBooks is by converting a file, say a MS Word file, into an Adobe Reader file. This is the best way to do it if you plan on selling the eBook yourself. Some epublishers require Adobe, while others have their own set formats. For now, consider Adobe Acrobat your friend. You can, for free, convert several eBooks.

Make Money – Keep them Curious

The most popular subject of eBooks is the “Make Money” element. Make money online … start a new profitable career … work from home while doubling profits. Some are clichéd, so be careful of writing an eBook on a bloated market. For instance, “Work from Home Riches” may appeal to newcomers to business, but most have seen it … done it … and read it before. Be original by making them curious. If you can keep the reader going with you, compelling copy with secrets, you gain an advantage. You want this eBook to not only sell well, but be a success … because then second and third books can come about.

Save Time – Keep them Reading

Let’s boil this all down to the simplest terms. You always write with your reader in mind for business eBooks. If you write only for yourself, you may only please yourself. The old tagline in writing is to “write for yourself,” but that works for artists. Write the eBook with a specific buyer in mind. You write clear copy. With your first draft, have coworkers look it over. It may take time to polish. But once you finish, the sky is the limit in terms of profit.

How do you make money off an ebook? Selling

So how do you really make money with eBooks? Actually, in many, many ways. First, let’s deal with the website issue, then landing pages.

A Website

Sound simple? You just write the eBook and put it on a website … the internet will do the rest. Quite the contrary, you need to write as compelling copy on this site as anywhere else. A site is mandatory for selling eBooks. You can sell them through other channels like self publishers and maybe a branch off page of a site you own, but a separate site with just the eBook means more sales.

The next step is to set up an account with an online vendor so you can sell the work. Some online sites with web design features also allow you to sell. Paypal is another good option, where you can have money sent directly to you. Web designers can help with this, but as long as you know the basics here, you will be okay.

The Landing Page

Make the copy completely focused on your eBook for the landing page, where you direct buyers. First, they must get to the landing page. For example, by using Pay Per Click (PPC) ads like on Google you can direct buyers directly to your site. This means creating a simple one or two sentence description which makes the reader curious. Don’t worry, on the landing page you get more chance to sell them.

On the landing page, you want to create compelling copy. Use the four principles of copywriting here: Picture, Promise, Proof, Push.
Make them picture a new reality, a better life with your eBook, usually richer. Promise them this will happen once they read the eBook. Show proof of how it worked for you or others. Push them to pay you $20 to buy the eBook.

Other People Sell For You!

eBook affiliate sellers are your friends. There are countless sites which offer commission to other webmasters to sell your eBook. One of the better services is Clickbank, where you can sign up and give webmasters a commission for selling your eBook on their site. This is a perfect way to create passive income with little work by yourself. It takes some of your profits, but still is important.

Choosing a Book Publisher

You can also go directly to eBook publishers to sell books for you. And there is also the possibility of seeing your eBook in print. If it’s a more creative business piece, and is lengthy, selling both eBooks and print books means more profits. However, self publishing means lots of competition. For some, it’s still more than worth it.

Rules of the eBook – Creative Offers, Creative Business Profits

eBook creation is a true art, and there are rules behind it. No better way than to jump right in!

How to

This is the first rule of the successful eBook. For instance, I wrote a personal experience, somewhat faith based eBook on creative writing. It took a while, didn’t have any how-to emphasis, and therefore didn’t sell well. However, it went back to becoming an expert in the field. Still, eBooks with a How-To emphasis sell far more than more general eBooks. This comes down to greed, the traditional way for eBook writers to make money. Simply, if you can make them $1,000 in a week with a new strategy, your 30 page, $20 eBook sounds reasonable. If you can get them vacation deals across the world to unique locations, they see a tremendous benefit in your 50 page, $30 book. It goes back to business: keep it about benefits and you’ll stay in business.

Curious Works!

Also, readers may be curious about some loophole in the stock market for making money … or how you saved $10,000 on a health plan … or even how you turned one eBook idea into a series of bestsellers. Most books engage readers by making them ask what will happen next. It’s the true art form of any book, and sells well with eBooks. Curiosity is usually satisfied with a How-To breakdown.

Experience? Means Charisma

Yes, you can bring yourself into the eBook. Sometimes you must! You can tell readers how this new strategy saved your house from going into foreclosure … how you saved on medical bills … or personally became a six figure consultant. eBooks more than anything prove that the best proof is success.

Make them Money, Save Them Money

You shouldn’t be the only one making money from this eBook. If you want it to take off, beyond money, people should be at least more productive or thinking clearer. That’s how word gets out on your eBook.

Sell, Sell, Sell

Don’t just tell everyone you know about the eBook. If it’s on a niche field, and most eBooks are, then capitalize on your experience and advertise everywhere. The golden rule is, free advertising is the best advertising. Advertising your eBook means going to as many sites and blogs in your field as possible, or even going to major newspaper and TV networks asking for interviews. If you want it to sell it, people need to know about it. Too many writers stop advertising after a few months, missing out on the final rule of business writing: the push, or offer. This can all be done with a press release.

Press Releases that Do Wonders!

Online the press release world is hot, but also bloated. There are so many free press release sites that the market is full of releases on millions of topics. Don’t let that sway you. You will still stand out with a strong headline and choosing to market your press release in various other ways. On free press release services, you’re unlikely to get a lot of bites. But, if you write a good press release pushing the eBook, it can take quickly. Sometimes hiring out for this is best. On the other side, sending your press release to dozens, if not hundreds, of media organizations almost guarantees you some free press, the very best kind.

Creating More than One eBook –Finale

There is no reason to stop at one eBook, even if the first didn’t sell well. You are just beginning to open up this vast creative business world. EBooks are often unsuccessful, just like first time novelists are rejected, or 1 in 5 businesses actually succeed. There is no golden secret to success, but there are a few ways to continue improving your sales. Here are a few steps toward creating more than one eBook.

Expert on the Niche

There are quite a few eBook authors out there, and many of them are turning a profit in a niche field. Few only have enough information for one 40-50 page eBook. Some write dozens of eBooks focusing mainly on one topic. New markets open up for creative businesses all the time; it’s a fact of life. If you become an expert on a certain field of business, say the online advertising B2B market, you’re second book may improve sales of your first book. This makes it even better to focus on the niche. Once buyers start finding your books, they often buy more than one if they like what they see.

Repeat Buyers

Repeat buyers are the holy grails of online business. Repeat customers, in most fields, come back for value, expertise, and time savings. One trick on continuing to sell to buyers is to get email addresses or continuously advertising in markets they read on. One major way to increase eBook profits, and to just sell your eBooks, is the email campaign.

Creating Email Campaigns

Email campaigns are powerful ways to expand on a series of eBooks. Once they buy your first book, ask for their email so you can send press releases. Your second book comes out … you have their email … send away … and more creative business profit comes. It can get tricky, and doesn’t always work. You have to make sure you make them note who you are for one, and why this second (or third or fourth) eBook is different and possibly better than the first.

Create an Info Based Site

Lastly, you’re an expert, so capitalize even more on the online creative business market. Build a website in your area of expertise not just to sell your eBooks but to create passive income. With eBook sales coming in, ad campaigns bringing in side profits, and email campaigns getting repeat visitors, this market has vast potential.
