Faith is a tough subject to break down for readers, because often each of us has a different understanding on things like God. With so much competition, how does the regular faith blogger compete? One key is ultra-specificity.

Be Focused:

What Religion will you talk about? Do you have experience in more than one religion? What do you actually read? Focus in on your own niche topic, namely with your specific religious choice. However, many have their own simple way of believing in things like divinity and after life. The key is making yourself different from the thousands. Research your choice of faith as much as possible. It will pay dividends.

What Type of Style?

The style of faith based blogs is often unique. One blogger might offer daily meditations on the King James Bible. Another may point out criminals across the world who walk free. Another will voice his opinions on corruption within the Islamic or Catholic religions … or on the other side, why these religions are so popular.
The style itself is often informal in the beginning, with a true life story. Then it becomes for formal, explaining an analogy or what should be done in 3rd person.

Lecturing, and Other Mistakes:

Since corruption in organized religions was brought up, it makes a perfect warning. While many faith based people will need to lecture in some form, lecturing without a point or lecturing too much puts off readers. Keep the faith based blog fun. This doesn’t mean you walk a fine line on issues, because speaking your mind is important. Avoid ranting, avoid putting yourself up above others, and avoid lecturing with no end analogy.

One big movement is the email ad campaign. You don’t just get stock tips and columns, recipes and exercise routines via email; you also get faith based articles sent right to you. Hidden within the emails are ads. Sure, profiting from religion may seem like you’re missing the point. The only true argument, besides that everyone is doing it, is that you need success to reach out to more people. Success often is tied to money, but it can also be tied to successfully building a successful blog with many readers.
