SEO (Search Engine Optimization) is the main process wherein an internet marketer improves the quality and volume of traffic to their website.  The higher your site lands in the rankings, the more visitors you’ll get to your site.  Taking marketing strategies into consideration, it is the best way to increase a site’s relevance.  The harsh reality is that if your site doesn’t make it in the rankings to the initial rankings page, there is a good possibility that all the effort you’ve put into your website could be for naught.

The amount of traffic generated by SEO is second to none and for that reason alone, it is the ultimate traffic generation method.  To say the least, it doesn’t matter whether it is media publicity, press releases, or social networking, they cannot compete with SEO for generating traffic to a website.  So what is it that makes SEO such a successful method for generating traffic? The main reason is because 90% of the people searching the internet for products and services use search engines to find what they are looking for. (more…)

How Pay Per Click Advertising Work

Posted on 27. Sep, 2009 by Trond.

2

Pay per Click (PPC) advertising is an internet marketing platform where an advertiser pays for site traffic by working with a third party advertising network like Google AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing, and MSN adCenter. The process starts with the advertiser selecting specific keywords that visitors might use when searching for a product online. An ad campaign is designed around the selected keywords. The advertising network then negotiates the cost of launching this ad with the advertiser. Specifically, a price is assigned to every keyword used in the ad, and the cost is charged by visitor click, or cost per click (CPC). This means that when the ad is clicked on and opened by the visitor, a cost is tabulated and charged back to the advertiser. In essence, the advertiser is being charged for running the ad on a pay per (visitor) click basis. (more…)
